Designed to embody visibility and transparency, the Council Chambers ‘floats’ gracefully above the Grass Roots Pavilion; a striking symbol of open and accessible democracy. With its elegant cross-laminated timber structure and floor-to-ceiling glass, the space invites the community to see local decision-making in action.
Aspirational yet welcoming, the Chambers are intended to inspire civic pride without formality or intimidation. While primarily used for Council meetings and workshops, the space is designed with flexibility at its heart, and will also be available for community and industry events, presentations, and special gatherings when not in official use.
An outdoor balcony offers views across the Botanic Arc, providing a serene outlook and a reminder of the community the building serves. The Chambers can be accessed via both a lift and a central spiral staircase, ensuring inclusivity and ease for all visitors.
